Registered Veterinary Nurse

We are an independent, dedicated ophthalmology referral service in Banbury, where we deliver specialist ophthalmic care from our newly renovated referral centre. Our clinical team consists of Mike Rhodes (a recognised European and RCVS Specialist in Ophthalmology), our ophthalmology resident, an advanced ophthalmic practitioner, 5 experienced RVNs, a practice manager and reception staff.

No referral experience is required! All of our nurses joined us from general practice and we provide in-house training and a supportive environment.

The RVN role includes anaesthesia and patient care, placing IVs, assisting in ophthalmic procedures, assisting in consultations (including with our visiting cardiology specialist), administration, client communication and liaising with referring vets.

Key facts:

• Full-time role with a 37 ½ hour week
• Hours distributed between normal opening hours 8am-6.30pm, Monday to Friday.
• Competitive salary (range £28,000 – £32,000 pa, depending on experience)
• Participation required for quiet on-call rota. Bonus OOH scheme and overtime paid. Our OOH is referral only with calls screened by the on-call vet.
• CPD and further qualifications are encouraged and paid for. We are currently funding 3 of our nurses to complete their anaesthesia certificates.
